Grade 5/6 behaviour management

Dear Parents,

As you may be aware, we are using gems as our reward system this year.  We aim to reward students for positive behaviour that may demonstrate high levels of gratitude, empathy, kindness, compassion, confidence or choices that are good for their learning.

As we know, the kids are all human and will sometimes fall short of these standards and make mistakes at school.  As a 5/6 team, we have decided that we will be using a 3 Strike system to deal with serious misbehaviour in the classroom or playground.  The way this will work is by our team discussing incidents or patterns of misconduct and coming to a joint agreement about when a strike is issued.  Should a strike be given, a phone call home will be made so that you are aware of the decision.  If a student receives 3 strikes, they will be excluded from privileges such as excursions, incursions, sports days and the like.

We appreciate your continued understanding and support,

The Grade 5/6 Team

Congratulations SRC’s!

Last week over 30 Grade Five students wrote and presented speeches to run for the Student Representative Council (SRC). The speeches were at an amazingly high quality and everyone who spoke should be very proud of themselves. Each class voted for who they wanted to represent them as an SRC member and after an extremely close vote, the winners were Cam, Niamh, Bella and Emma. Congratulations to those four students, we know you’ll do a great job being the voice of the students in your classes.

Successful swimmers!

A big well done to Cam, Nate, Emma, Jack, Milly and James who represented the school at the District Swimming Carnival last week. All students did the school proudly and should be very pleased with their efforts. Good luck to Jack who has progressed to Division next week.
